Our History
38 Years in the
Vault
Since 1986, the Trichter has made its home in the historic vaulted cellars of the Findelgasse. A rustic vibe, historic murals, and an unmistakable Trichter spirit – this place was more than just a café. For many, it was the unofficial heart of the FAU WiSo.
The Vault: Once a public bathhouse for schoolchildren, later home to generations of FAU students. A place where daydreams turned into Trichter adventures.
The Name: Not because of alcohol binges – the Trichter (funnel) stands for the "funneling of knowledge," inspired by the legendary Nuremberg Funnel.
What Remains: More than 20 dedicated students keeping the Trichter spirit alive with passion and free-spiritedness – no matter where.
One place closes, the spirit remains
The building on Findelgasse is permanently closing. After 38 years, a chapter ends – but it's not the end of the Trichter. We are already preparing our new home.
